Breed: Pocket-sized Pony (shockingly, Alchemy is not a miniature horse! Common misconception.)
Birth Year: 2004
Joined CORRAL: 2018
Alchemy was on his way to a slaughterhouse when NC State Vet School found him and pulled him into one of their research programs. NCSU helped him to recover from severe neglect. His tiny feet had grown into long “elf shoes.” With careful management, Alchemy blossomed, helping not only with important research, but serving as a blood donor to help other horses in need.
When the research project drew to a close, a CORRAL volunteer recommended us as his new home, and he’s been here ever since! One of our resident escape artists, Alchemy loves adventuring to find his friends (especially when he’s supposed to be at work in the arena). Students have to work to keep him focused, but once they have his attention he loves to play games and work on skills. He has a sense of humor and teaches us not to take things personally. Alchemy can tell when his partner is frustrated – and once that happens, he’s won. After you learn to let the bumps in the road pass, there’s no limit to what you can do with this little guy.
