How We Show Up for Our Teens: Celebrating Pride Month

June is Pride Month, and at CORRAL we recognize and celebrate this month and beyond. CORRAL aims to provide a safe and inclusive environment for all of its participants. Our mission is rooted in hope and healing and we strive to give our participants the freedom to be their authentic selves, surrounded by a community that supports them no matter what.

Together, we are helping our teens gain access to a bright future and the confidence to walk boldly toward it. This journey isn’t easy—but no one walks it alone. Our staff, volunteers, and community show up every day with open hearts and unwavering belief in the potential of our teens. We are proud to be surrounded by a diverse and complex community that helps our teens complete their journey full circle.

“CORRAL gives me the option to be honest with people instead of having to pretend to be someone I am not. As a transgender man, CORRAL provided me with the confidence that I could feel safe and comfortable while on the farm, even when I have nowhere else to express myself. I’m proud to say CORRAL provided me with this support and the open area to learn and express who I am with no judgement.”

At CORRAL, showing up means more than just being present. It means listening deeply, encouraging growth, and allowing our teens to be vulnerable and take risks necessary for healing. It means building trust and creating relationships where our teens feel valued and safe.

Our teens notice the effort and commitment that our staff and volunteers dedicate to them. Our staff are quick to celebrate their wins and helping them recognize their own growth

This commitment to unconditional support is especially important for youth who may feel unseen or misunderstood elsewhere. Many of our teens arrive unsure of how to speak up for themselves—but at CORRAL, they’re learning that their voice matters.

During Pride Month—and all year long—we recognize the power of belonging, the impact of transformational life change, and the deep need for safe spaces where young people can truly be themselves. When our teens are able to show up as their full selves, they’re able to invest more time in building trust with their horse, stepping up in their responsibilities on the farm, or strengthening relationships with peers and mentors.

We remain committed to building a community where every young person can thrive—exactly as they are.
