Top 5 Brain Boosters and Energy Exertions for Kids

With schools closed and workplaces remote, parents everywhere are struggling to keep their children healthy and occupied. If you’re anxious about how to protect and nurture your kids through this crisis — often juggling work obligations at the same time — you’re not alone. Luckily, many institutes have shared a plethora of resources available for instant use to make up for the loss of structure provided by schools.

Earlier this week, we covered the top five priorities to set in place everyday, so now let’s focus on activities that strengthen children’s brains and help them expend all that extra energy! This is a great time to build skill sets that our children may never learn at school. Here are the top five activities that we’ve shared with our families who have younger kids in addition to their teenage girls:

  1. Make use of the thousands of free K-12 worksheets and printables as home-schooling resources.
  2. Listen to story-time from celebrities at Storyline Online.
  3. Burn off extra energy with kids’ dance routines from GoNoodleGames. They even have a great Indoor Recess series.
  4. Make delicious treats that your kids can help with in the kitchen.
  5. If your kids are older, try one of these sample daily educational breakdowns from the Khan Academy. They offer suggestions from Pre-K all the way up to 12th grade. Find a comprehensive Google Doc here.
