Second Chance Stables, a horse rescue operating out of Randolph, NC, saved Lucky and Buddy from a kill pen. The rescue changed her name from Lacey to Lucky (she has a four-leaf clover marking on her hind!). Lucky was very anxious and afraid of people when she arrived at CORRAL’s Raleigh Farm. Our equine staff, volunteers, and CORRAL teens helped her begin to overcome these difficult emotions.
Lucky is young and figuring out who she is as a horse. Lucky moved to the Cary farm in 2026, where she connected with Duchess. Duchess is a confident mare who is a bit like a mentor to Lucky. Their relationship opened the door to a new chapter! We are so impressed with Lucky’s growth. Consistent groundwork is building her sense of trust. We’re excited to see how Lucky grows alongside our youth.
