Buddy

Breed: Appendix (Quarter Horse / Thoroughbred cross)

Birth Year: 2014

Joined CORRAL: 2023

Buddy started life in Louisiana, bred with the intention of becoming a racehorse. His racing career was short. He ran in three races, placing 2nd once, and 3rd twice. At some point, an injury to his pelvis ended Buddy’s racing career. Rescued by Second Chance Stables, Buddy came to CORRAL alongside another horse – Lucky.

Buddy is a curious and friendly guy who enjoys sunbathing and spending time with people. He is particularly close with another horse at the Neuse River farm – he and Cap groom each other multiple times a day!

WHY HORSES

Every horse at CORRAL is an essential partner in providing trauma‑informed care to our students.

Horses connect with the youth we serve in ways that humans and traditional talk therapy cannot.

Horses help CORRAL students:

develop healthy relationship skills
build confidence and focus
learn assertive communication
grow problem solving skills

…and more!

TAKE ACTION

Our champions know that the impact horses have on our youth is priceless.

Just like our youth, every CORRAL horse has a story. We invite you to be part of their next chapter.
